The Portuguese Community of Yorùbá Candomblé (CPCY) is an institution recognized by the Portuguese government to officially represent the Yorùbá and Candomblé traditions in Portugal. The CPCY was created, firstly, to take Candomblé out of the frame of ‘witchcraft’, an accusatory category that doesn’t express its religious principles.
CPCY goal is the preservation and promotion of Candomblé and Yorùbá practices, worshipping the gods named as Òrìṣà (Orishas), initiating new members in the congregation, and interacting with the society, promoting inter-religious dialogue and helping to clarify misunderstood on those practices.
